Zirconia Crowns

Advanced dental clinics use crowns as an artificial replacement for the tooth’s crown, for oral rehabilitation and to improve the patient’s cosmetic appearance. The use of crowns completes the restoration of missing teeth and the strengthening of weak teeth with the aim of preventing ongoing damage. Today, as cosmetic dentistry becomes a more significant area of dental care, the use of porcelain fused to metal crowns meets adequate functional demands, but not always aesthetically. Dental clinics specializing in aesthetic dentistry currently use zirconia in their crowns, bridges and implant supports.

Zirconia is the dioxide form of the metallic element Zirconium and is similar in properties to a natural diamond, possessing both beauty and strength. After an exact subframe is forged, feldspathic porcelain is built upon it until the perfect crown form is attained. Zirconia crowns are biocompatible – made of material that works well with the bodily tissue; they are very strong and resistant to corrosion, and have optical characteristics similar to the natural tooth, thus facilitating perfect aesthetic results and a completely natural look. To achieve the perfect smile, the best materials have to be used. There are different types of zirconia crowns, beginning with the excellent crowns made by LAVA, to Chinese imitations. At our clinic, as a rule, we work with only the best materials available.
